White House Aide Cleared Of Charges
The city quietly dropped charges Monday against White House adviser George Stephanopoulos, who had been accused of leaving the scene of a minor car accident and driving with an expired license and tags.
“We took the case, evaluated it and decided not to go forward with it,” said Claude Bailey, spokesman for the city’s corporation counsel.
Stephanopoulos, 34, was arrested Sept. 7. He was accused of hitting the fender of a car parked in front of him as he tried to pull his car out of a space in front of a Georgetown restaurant.
