Tuesday at an east Spokane tavern is in jail.

Milton McKeller, 39, was arrested for second-degree assault after witnesses said he beat up another man with a baseball bat.

Police said the two men started arguing inside a bar at Riverside and Helena about 5:30 p.m. when the fight escalated outside.

The victim, whose name was not released, was taken to a downtown hospital for treatment. His injuries are not serious, police said.

The baseball bat was found in the street outside of the tavern. It is unclear what prompted the fight, police said.

McKeller is an employee for Ringling Bros. and Barnum and Bailey Circus, which opens tonight at the Spokane Arena.
