Americorps Program Has Money For Jobs

Thirty Spokane young people will be hired for yearlong, fulltime jobs with $303,000 from the federal AmeriCorps, Educational Service District 101 announced Friday.

ESD 101 is one of seven agencies in Washington to get AmeriCorps money. Young people, ages 16 through 25, will build and renovate low-income housing and restore parks at $4.90 an hour.

Those who complete the program will get $4,725 scholarships. Applications are available from ESD 101, 1025 W. Indiana.
