Crash Kills Woman Day Before Birthday
An Endicott woman was killed Thursday night when she was thrown from her car in a rollover accident three miles north of Diamond, the Whitman County sheriff’s office said Friday.
Shari Terrell Thornton, who would have turned 39 Friday, was headed toward Endicott on County Road 4000 about 10:40 p.m. when her Honda Civic drifted off the road and flipped as she tried to correct her steering. Thornton, who was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown from the car.
Coroner Pete Martin pronounced her dead about 90 minutes later at Whitman Community Hospital after she underwent emergency surgery for chest and internal injuries.
