Vancouver Exchange Lists Consil Corp.
ConSil Corp. Tuesday became the latest regional mining exploration firm to be listed on the Vancouver Stock Exchange.
ConSil, formerly Consolidated Silver Corp., looks for mines primarily in Mexico, said Ralph Noyes, chairman of the board for the Vancouver, B.C.-based company.
Noyes, the vice president of metals mining for Hecla Mining Co. until last year, has been developing the company for three years. The company’s Ojo Caliente project in Mexico proved promising enough to Vancouver Stock Exchange officials to list ConSil with the symbol CS. The stock has traded at around $1 U.S. a share, Noyes said.
ConSil’s other property, the Sombrerete project, has equipment and infrastructure in place but has been closed since 1991 because of low silver prices.
Drilling continues at both mines, Noyes said. Both are far away from the point where the company would decide whether to spend millions to develop them itself or bring in a partner, like many small exploration companies choose to do. , DataTimes
