Olivine Swofford Spokane
Service for Olivine T. Swofford, 88, is set for 2 p.m. today at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home. There will be private inurnment.
Mrs. Swofford, a former Coeur d’Alene resident, died Monday. She was born in Ruby, Mont.
She was a homemaker and had lived in Coeur d’Alene for 17 years and in Sandpoint for 30 years. She was a two-year Spokane resident.
She was a member of the Altar Society of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sandpoint and the Grandmothers Club in Coeur d’Alene.
Survivors include her husband, Victor Swofford; one daughter, Betty Keegan of Yuma, Ariz.; one sister, Edeline Raum of Monterey Park, Calif.; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Noel Powers Spokane
Service for Noel Margaret Powers, 58, is set for 11 a.m. today at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery.
Mrs. Powers, a 40-year Spokane resident, died Sunday. She was born in Colton, Wash.
She graduated from Sacred Heart School of Nursing and worked as a registered nurse.
She is survived by her husband of 36 years, John Powers; three daughters, Michelle and Kristine Powers, and Tammy Kiehn, all of Spokane; her parents, George and Albertine Scharbach of Colton; one brother, Dan Scharbach of Gresham, Ore.; two sisters, Cheryl Richards of Spokane and Joan Bauer of Uniontown, Wash.; and three grandchildren.

Louise McPhail Mobile, Ala.
Service for Louise A. McPhail, 85, will be at 1 p.m. today at Radney Funeral Home in Mobile. Burial will be in Biloxi, Miss.
Mrs. McPhail, a former longtime Spokane resident, died Saturday. She was born in Spokane.
She graduated from North Central High School and worked at General Telephone.
She moved south with her second husband, Arthur McPhail, 15 years ago. After he died, she settled in Mobile.
Her first husband, Bill Helzer, also preceded her in death.
Mrs. McPhail is survived by one son, Earl McPhail of Pensacola, Fla.; one stepson, Avon McPhail of Alabama; two brothers, Wesley and Gilbert Natwick, both of Spokane; and several grandchildren.
Russell Rosenberg Grand Coulee
Visitation for A. Russell Rosenberg, 79, is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Strate Funeral Home in Grand Coulee. Service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Almira, Wash. Burial will follow at 4 p.m. at Spring Canyon Cemetery at Grand Coulee.
Mr. Rosenberg, who was born in Almira, died Monday at Deaconess Medical Center in Spokane.
He graduated from Creston High School and was a longtime rancher and farmer in the Grand Coulee area. He retired when he was 75.
He was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Almira, Grand Coulee Grange 807, the American Hereford Association, the Washington Cattlemen’s Association and the Lincoln County Cattlemen and was active in 4-H and horse clubs.
Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Theda Rosenberg; one son, Ronald Rosenberg of Grand Coulee; six daughters, Delores Caple of Las Vegas, Nev., Darlene St. Jeor of Coulee Dam, Rusanne Wagner of Wilbur, Wash., Tamie Rosenberg of Spokane, Denise Perkins of Wenatchee and Kerry Perkins of Port Angeles, Wash.; one sister Emily Herdrick of Wilbur; 15 grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Raymond ‘Buck’ Konkright Spokane
Service for Raymond A. “Buck” Konkright, 65, will be at 1 p.m. today at Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-South. Burial will be at Riverside Memorial Park.
Mr. Konkright, who died Monday at home, was born in Rosebud, Mont.
He and his wife, Helen, moved to Spokane in 1967.
He served in the Army during the Korean War.
Mr. Konkright had worked at Playfair Racetrack as a valet from 1967 until October 1995. He most recently had been working as a valet at Portland (Ore.) Meadows Racetrack.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years; three daughters, Buddy Jo Konkright of San Mateo, Calif., Charlene Valdez of Kennewick and Sherry Hathaway of Cheney; one son, Nick Phillips of Spokane; two brothers, Bob Konkright of Ridgefield, Wash., and Joe Konkright of Denver; and six grandchildren.
Edward Nansen Electric City, Wash.
Service for Edward N. Nansen, 84, will be at 11 a.m. today at Strate Funeral Home Chapel in Grand Coulee. Burial will follow at the Spring Canyon Cemetery at Grand Coulee.
Mr. Nansen, who was born in Almira, Wash., died Monday at Coulee Community Hospital Nursing Home.
He graduated from Eastern Washington University with a degree in mathematics and education.
He taught school in Hay and Washtucna, Wash., for two years and then worked at Grand Coulee Dam in the finance division and as a lecturer at the Vista Center.
In 1948 he returned to Almira and operated the family farm until 1978.
Mr. Nansen married Vieno Pontinen in Coeur d’Alene in 1942.
He served in the Army during World War II and was a member of the American Legion, Disabled American Veterans, Highland Grange, Wilbur Gem and Mineral Club, and the Grand Coulee Senior Citizens.
Survivors include his wife at home, and one brother, Marion Nansen of Almira.

Lulu Daniel Spokane
Graveside service for Lulu B. Daniel, 98, will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Fairmount Memorial Park. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Daniel, who was born in Almira, Wash., died Monday.
She was a longtime Spokane resident and was a cook and nanny for many Spokane families, including the Louis Davenports.
Two husbands preceded her in death: Carl Yaeger and, in 1977, Elwyn “Cop” Daniel.
Mrs. Daniel is survived by two grandsons, Mike Yaeger of Spokane and Jeff Nemitz of Seattle.
Wayne ‘Wayno’ Blair Spokane
Service for Wayne H. “Wayno” Blair, 60, will be at 1 p.m. today at Riplinger Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Fairmount Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. Blair died Monday of a heart attack. He was born in Spokane.
He graduated from high school in Reardan, Wash.
He worked as a sales representative for Westinghouse Supply Co. for 30 years and retired in 1994.
He was very involved with Spokane Youth Hockey as a volunteer, referee and association president. He had coached Shadle Park High School hockey and was the former general manager of the Spokane Flames, now Braves, Junior B hockey team.
Mr. Blair was also a longtime Spokane Chiefs off-ice game official.
He was a member of Eagles Lodge No. 2 and Spokane Oldtimers Hockey.
He is survived by his wife, Maxine Blair; three sons, Kerry Blair of Spokane, Keith Blair of Pasco and Michael Blair of Broken Arrow, Okla.; two daughters, Donna Fanning and Dianne Blair, both of St. Paul, Minn.; his father, Lawrence Blair of Spokane; two brothers, Ken Blair of Spokane and Robert Blair of Loon Lake, Wash.; one sister, Loretta Jones of Clayton, Wash.; and 12 grandchildren.
