Michael Greeley Hoquiam, Wash.

Service for Michael F. Greeley, a former Spokane resident, was Saturday at St. Maries Catholic Church in Aberdeen, Wash.

Mr. Greeley, 47, died April 9 from a heart attack. He was born in Seattle.

He was raised in Spokane and graduated from North Central High School. He received a bachelor’s degree in education from Eastern Washington University and a master’s degree from the University of Portland.

He taught for 17 years, many of those years in Aberdeen. He also ran a chess club after school.

He married Linda Breedlove in Spokane in 1969.

He is survived by his wife; four sons, Jonathan and Jeffery Greely at home; Nickolas and Fritz Greeley, both of Mesa, Ariz.; one daughter, Mikaela Greeley at home; his parents, Everett and Erma Jean Greeley of Spokane; one sister, Cami Maier of Sacramento, Calif., and his grandmother, Velma Young of Pomeroy, Wash.

Cynthia Deimler Sandpoint

Memorial service for Cynthia D. Deimler, 44, was held at an earlier date at English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene.

Mrs. Deimler, who was born in California, died Thursday.

She had lived in Coeur d’Alene for 13 years before moving to Sandpoint in 1994.

She worked as a bartender at Buck and Edna’s Tavern in Sandpoint.

Survivors include her husband of one year, Bob; son, Ronnie; three daughters, Kimberley, Naomi and Tanya; three sisters, Joyce, Sharon and Pamela; and one granddaughter.

Josephine ‘Jo’ Madsen Sandpoint

Private family graveside service has been held for Josephine “Jo” Madsen, 86, at Pinecrest Memorial Park in Sandpoint. Coffelt Funeral Service in Sandpoint was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Madsen, who was born in Wisconsin, died Friday.

She lived in various cities before settling in Spokane. She moved to Sandpoint in 1933.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Al, in 1985.

Survivors include two sons, Gerald and Melvin, both of Sandpoint; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Gladys ‘Honey’ Sinn Spokane

Service for Gladys “Honey” Sinn, 96, is set for 2 p.m. Friday at Thornhill Valley Funeral Home. Private burial will be at Pines Cemetery.

Mrs. Sinn died Sunday. She was born in Alexandria, Neb.

She graduated from Whitworth College and retired from teaching in School District 81 where she taught for many years.

She had lived in the Spokane Valley for 52 years.

She was a member of Magnolia Chapter Order of Eastern Star, Amaranth, the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Hillyard Senior Center.

Her husband of 67 years, Herbert, died in 1987.

She is survived by three daughters, Joyce Fulford, Roma Sinn and Carol Ellis, all of Spokane; eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Gladys Miller Otis Orchards

Visitation for Gladys M. Miller, 81, is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home. Service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with burial at Fairmount Memorial Park.

Mrs. Miller, who died Sunday, was born in Amidon, N.D.

During World War II, she served in the Navy and was stationed in Washington, D.C.

She had lived in Spokane for 40 years and worked as a office clerk.

Mrs. Miller was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church.

Her husband of 20 years, Richard Miller, died in 1981.

She is survived by three brothers, Clifford Homelvig of South Dakota, Elmer Homelvig of North Dakota and Miles Homelvig of Kansas; and two sisters, Ina Monroe and Doris Howie, both of North Dakota.

Ronald McGuire Spokane

Service for Ronald E. McGuire, 45, is planned for 10 a.m. today at Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-South. Burial will be at Spokane Memorial Gardens. Born in Tonasket, Wash., Mr. McGuire died Friday.

He moved to Spokane with his family, as an infant, and graduated from East Valley High School.

He served in the Army during the Vietnam War.

He had worked at Kaiser Aluminum in Trentwood and for the Postal Service.

Mr. McGuire was involved in racing pigeons and raised and bred dalmatians.

He is survived by two sons, Matthew McGuire at home, and William McGuire of Seattle; three brothers, Larry and Kenneth McGuire, both of Spokane, and David Gladeau of Olympia; two sisters, Karen Richardson of Olympia and Kristi Gladeau of Spokane; and his grandmother, Elma Hanson of Spokane.

Dennis Fitzgerald Spokane

Visitation for Dennis T. Fitzgerald, 83, is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. today at Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home. Vigil service will follow at 7 p.m. at St. John Vianney Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the church.

Mr. Fitzgerald, who was born in Ordway, S.D., died Sunday at home.

He moved to Chewelah, Wash., from South Dakota, and operated Fitzgerald Motors, a Ford dealership, for 27 years. He retired in 1972. He had lived in Spokane for 29 years.

He was a member of St. John Vianney Parish, Knights of Columbus and Kiwanis International.

Mr. Fitzgerald is survived by his wife of 59 years, Christine, two sons: Dennis and Marty Fitzgerald, both of Spokane; two daughters, Jean McGinn of Spokane and Marlene Raymond of Bothell, Wash.; 18 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Sister Mary Aletha Deegan, SNJM Spokane

Vigil service for Sr. Mary Aletha Deegan, SNJM, 88, will be at 7 p.m. today at the Convent of the Holy Names chapel. Mass of Resurrection will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery.

Sr. Deegan died Sunday at the convent infirmary. She was born in Syracuse, N.Y., where her mother traveled to be with her sister to give birth, since there were no medical facilities in their hometown of Red Lodge, Mont.

Sr. Mary Aletha made her religious profession 67 years ago and was involved with primary education for 63 of those years. From the late 1920s through the mid 1970s, she taught in Seattle, Portland, Marylhurst, Ore., Pomeroy, Wash., and Spokane.

In Spokane she taught at St. Francis of Assissi School, Sacred Heart School, Our Lady of Lourdes School and Cataldo Primary School. She also served as superior at Our Lady of Lourdes School and, beginning in 1980, served as parish minister at Our Lady of Lourdes Cathedral.

Survivors include one brother, George Deegan of Hayden, Idaho; and one sister, Catherine Brandenburg of Bainbridge Island, Wash.

Jack McDonald Jr. Newport, Wash.

Graveside service for Jack Frank McDonald Jr., 54, was Tuesday at Newport Cemetery.

Mr. McDonald died Thursday at Ritzville (Wash.) Memorial Hospital from an apparent heart attack. He and his wife had just started a vacation to California.

Mr. McDonald was born in Long Beach, Calif., and married Janice Sharp in Westminster, Calif., in 1962.

He served in the Army, the California Guard and the Air National Guard.

He was a member of the Teamsters Union 235 in Orange County, Calif., and worked in maintenance at Disneyland, as a truck driver.

He moved to Newport in 1975 and operated Double Jack’s, a second hand and rental shop from 1981 to 1988.

He is survived by his wife; three sons, Jack McDonald III of Yreka, Calif.; Jerry McDonald of Montana and John McDonald of Corning, Calif.; one daughter, Jan Lewis of Oldtown, Idaho; and two brothers, Jim McDonald of Newport and Gene McDonald of Utah.

Dorothy Ward Spokane

Visitation for Dorothy (Kienbaum) Ward, 80, is scheduled from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home. Memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Zion Lutheran Church. Private burial will precede at Fairmount Memorial Park.

Mrs. Ward, who was born in Fairfield, died Saturday.

She graduated from high school in Fairfield and from Kinman Business University.

In 1939 she married Andrew Ward in Spokane. He died in 1965.

She was the secretary for Zion Lutheran Church for 25 years and retired in 1980.

Mrs. Ward traveled to South America on a mission for the church and later spoke at various churches about her journey.

She was a charter member of Zion Lutheran Church and a member of the ETC, a philanthropic organization.

She is survived by one son, Richard Ward of Ephrata, Wash.; one daughter, Gayle Hunter of Marysville, Wash.; one sister, Luella Olson of Fairfield; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Marjorie Havercroft Spokane

Memorial service for Marjorie G. Havercroft, 87, was Tuesday at Central Grange.

Born in Zenith, Kan., Mrs. Havercroft died Saturday.

She was an elementary school teacher and taught in several Eastern Washington school districts before she retired from Bridgeport School District in Douglas County 1972.

She was a longtime Spokane resident.

Mrs. Havercroft was a member of Lidgerwood Evangelical Church, Orchard Prairie Homemakers Club and Daughters of the American Revolution.

Her husband, Gayle Havercroft died in 1950.

She is survived by one brother, Walter Clothier; two daughters, Joyce Jensen and Carolyn Renz, both of Spokane; three sons, Bill, Darrel and Roger Havercroft, all of Spokane; and 13 grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to Lidgerwood Evangelical Church or to the Union Gospel Mission/Ogden Hall for Women and Children.

Alene Smith Post Falls

Service for Alene E. Smith, 79, will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at English Funeral Chapel in Post Falls.

Mrs. Smith, who was born in Alberta, died Friday. She moved to North Idaho as a child and later became a homemaker.

Mrs. Smith was a member of the Coeur d’Alene Eagles Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Manuel.

Survivors include three sons, Norman of Great Falls, Mont., Gale of Otis Orchards, and Ronald of Post Falls; three daughters, Sharon Whitney, Marcia Hendrickson, and Karen Gartleman, all of Post Falls; two brothers; four sisters; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Carol Cunningham Spokane

No service will be held for Carol J. Cunningham, 64. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of cremation arrangements.

Mrs. Cunningham, who was born in Moscow, Idaho, died Saturday.

She had lived in Spokane since 1945 and was a homemaker.

Her husband, James Cunningham, preceded her in death.

She is survived by four daughters, Carol Cunningham of San Diego, and Patricia McGee, Susan Cunningham and Jeannie Dunsmore all of Spokane; one son, Daniel Cunningham of Spokane; one sister, Fran Ricor of Spokane; one brother, James Dahl of Spokane; and two grandchildren.

Anna Hepburn Spokane

Private memorial service for Anna M. Hepburn, 77, was Sunday at Riverview Care Center Chapel. Burial was at Spokane Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Hepburn died Saturday. She was born in Spokane.

She had worked at The Crescent Tea Room as a hostess for many years.

She is survived by one sister, May Blackstone of Tacoma; two sons, Gary Brown, and Jim Brown; two daughters, Judith Ostendorf, and Susan Cockrill; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
