Library Of Congress Going On Line
Original manuscripts, first edition sound recordings of political leaders, and unique photographs are among the American history materials that will soon be on the Internet as part of a program helping libraries around the country go on line.
The Library of Congress announced Thursday a $2 million grant from Ameritech Corp. to the National Digital Library program. The money will be awarded to libraries that have Americana holdings not available at the Library of Congress.
Already, more than a dozen of the Library of Congress’ unique American history collections are on line through a five-year, $60-million plan to establish the National Digital Library.
