John Gless Coeur d’Alene

Service for John P. Gless, 89, will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Coeur d’Alene. English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Gless, who was born in California, died Thursday. He was raised in California and worked as a citrus farmer. He moved to Coeur d’Alene in 1992.

Mr. Gless was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church in Coeur d’Alene.

Survivors include his wife Mary; a son, John Gless of California; and a daughter Barbara Hoffman of Pinehurst, Idaho.

Memorials may be made to Lake City Senior Center, 1916 Lakewood Drive, Coeur d’Alene, ID 83814.

Ryan Hill Deer Park

Service for Ryan Joshua Hill, 15, is scheduled for 3 p.m. Sunday at Deer Park High School. Burial will follow at Woodland Cemetery in Deer Park. Lauer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Ryan , who was born in Salem, Ore., died Tuesday when he was struck by lightning.

A freshman at Deer Park High School, he was an honor student, a member of the school football, basketball and track teams. He was elected to represent the freshman class as homecoming prince in 1995.

He is survived by his parents, Milton and Jackie Cardle, Deer Park; three brothers, Justin Hill of Deer Park, and Jeremy and James Cardle, both of Spokane; four sisters, Christina Hill, Brianna Hill and Nicole Cardle, all of Deer Park, and Andrea Cardle of Spokane; his grandparents, Bill and Judy Morasch, of Tualatin, Ore., and Herb and Marlyce Cardle of Spokane and his stepgrandfather, David Hill of Seattle.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Ryan Joshua Hill Trust Fund at any SeaFirst bank.

Violet Carr Spokane

Memorial service for Violet Carr, 87, is set for 1 p.m. today at Whitworth Community Presbyterian Church. Entombment will be at 3:15 p.m. at Sunset Mausoleum Chapel, Fairmount Memorial Park. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Carr, who died April 11, was born in Roseto, Pa.

Her husband of 55 years, the Rev. Attilio Vincent Carr, died in 1983.

Mrs. Carr was a Spokane resident for more than 40 years and for 17 years, worked closely with her husband in his pastorate at Whitworth Community Presbyterian Church. She served as the church treasurer, organist, pianist, choir director, and worked as a tutor for Whitworth College students.

She is survived by one daughter, Arlene Carr Loder of Princeton, N.J.; two sisters, Ida Marks and Ella Ciferri, both of Chicago Heights, Ill.; one brother, Emilio Ciferri of Oak Forest, Ill.; two granddaughters and two great-grandchildren.

Matthew Kelly Ritzville, Wash.

Funeral Mass for Matthew J. Kelly, 85, is scheduled for 10 a.m. today at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Spokane. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Kelly died Tuesday in Ritzville, where he had lived since 1993.

He worked as a custodian for Gonzaga Prep and with the paint crew at Gonzaga University. He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish, the Knights of Columbus in Spokane and St. Agnes Parish in Ritzville.

He is survived by one brother, Bernard Kelly of Spokane.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Francis of Assisi or to the Poor Clare Nuns.

Travis Carter Sandpoint

Memorial service for Travis Eugene Carter, 17, will be today at 10 a.m. at Coffelt’s Moon Chapel in Sandpoint. Coffelt Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Carter, who was born in Jerome, Idaho, died Wednesday in a train/pedestrian accident near Kootenai, Idaho.

He moved to Sandpoint at a young age and attended schools there. He was a junior at Sandpoint High School.

He was active in football, basketball, bowling and wrestling.

Survivors include his parents, Mark and Debbie Carter; a sister, Jessica Carter of Sandpoint; his grandparents, Dixie Carter, Ilene Plaster and Leonard Plaster, all of Sandpoint; his great-grandmother, Nettie Roberts of Sandpoint; his girlfriend; Leah Delewese; and best friends, Eric Plaster and Amy Knefel.

Robert Peck Spokane

Private service for Robert Eugene Peck, 85, is planned for a later date. Hazen and Yaeger-Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Peck, who was born in Buffalo, N.Y., died Thursday. His family moved to Chicago in 1916. He attended high school and junior college in Cicero, Ill.

After serving in the Army during World War II he moved to Spokane.

He worked as a carpenter, concrete form designer and building inspector for projects including the Veteran’s Administration Hospital and Deaconess Hospital in Spokane, Eastern Washington University, Fairchild Air Force Base and missile bases in Washington and Montana.

He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Carpenters and International Brotherhood of Teamsters.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Agnes; two sons, Jeffery Peck of Pullman and Stephen Castor-Peck of Seattle; one daughter, Susan Fowler of Bainbridge Island, Wash.; and two granddaughters.
