First Lady Poll: Dole Beats Clinton

Compiled From Wire Services

Their names don’t appear on the presidential ballot, but Elizabeth Dole would best Hillary Rodham Clinton if voters could elect the first lady, a national poll shows.

Forty-three percent of the 1,000 registered voters polled said they’d rather have Dole for first lady, while 36 percent chose current first lady Clinton. Twenty-one percent were undecided or didn’t pick a favorite.

The poll by EPIC/MRA of Lansing, conducted April 11-14, comes after both women have made extensive campaign appearances on behalf of their husbands, Senate Majority Leader Bob Dole, the presumptive GOP nominee and President Clinton.
