U.S. Scores Hockey Win

San Jose Sharks teammates Chris Tancill and Tom Pederson scored a goal each, leading the United States past Austria 5-1 in the opener for both teams at the World Ice Hockey Championships.

Goalie Parris Duffis, who plays for Springfield of the AHL, stopped 28 shots in the victory.

The Americans, who play Germany today, haven’t won a World medal since 1962.
