Flooding Expected For Palouse, N. Idaho
The National Weather Service warned Palouse and North Idaho residents to be on alert for more flooding and heavy winds.
Paul Frisbie, a Weather Service meteorologist, said the St. Joe River in Benewah County was expected to reach flood level this afternoon.
With forecasts calling for heavy rain, the river could rise 4 feet above flood level by Thursday morning, he said.
The Weather Service also issued a small-stream flood advisory for North Idaho and a flash-flood warning for the Palouse after receiving reports of foot-deep mud along U.S. Highway 195 near Steptoe, Frisbie said.
Wind gusts caused 60 customers to lose power in the Deer Park area, a Washington Water Power spokeswoman said. Crews were working late Tuesday to restore power.
The gusts also caused scattered power outages in the Panhandle late Tuesday, including some reported in Bonner County, authorities said.
