Prisoner Escapes From Work Detail

A man serving a four-year sentence at the Airway Heights Corrections Center escaped from a work detail in Reardan on Wednesday.

The state Department of Corrections said a crew supervisor reported Dorotio Martinez Ortiz, 24, missing about 8:50 a.m.

Corrections officers searched for Ortiz but could not find him. Further details of the escape weren’t available.

Ortiz is 5-foot-9 and weighs 174 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes. He was sentenced to 48 months in prison in May 1993 after being convicted of possession of cocaine with intent to deliver within 1,000 feet of a school.
