Amy Seppa Finalist For State Outstanding Junior

Amy Seppa, a student at Lewis and Clark High School, is among the top 10 finalists for the Outstanding Junior in the State of Washington award.

Seppa, who maintains a 3.8 grade-point average and is a member of LC’s Drill Team, has worked at Camp Reed and Camp Goodtimes; she is active in her church youth group and helped build houses for the homeless in Tijuana, Mexico.

As a finalist, she will receive a $500 scholarship and an additional $500 scholarship if chosen Outstanding Junior.

The 1995 “Natishi,” Whitworth College’s yearbook, received an Award of Excellence from Taylor Publishing Co. and will be included in the “1996 Yearbook Yearbook.”

Editor was Amanda Smith. Tad Wisenor is adviser to the yearbook staff.

Students from Cheney, Riverside and West Valley school districts recently attended the Washington Junior Science and Humanities Symposium at Seattle Pacific University.

Grace Williams, West Valley, was one of five students selected to give oral presentations of their research. In addition to receiving a $4,000 scholarship, she will compete at the national symposium in San Diego.

David Gosse, Cheney, and Rebecca Lorang, West Valley, were among the top five students; Shawna Terherst, Riverside, was recognized for the best presentation in the poster division. They will all attend the national symposium.

Army Spec. Jonathan W. Pool received the Army Achievement Medal for meritorious service, an act of courage or other outstanding accomplishments.

Pool, a 1988 graduate of Shadle Park High School, is the son of Herbert T. Pool, Concrete, Wash., and Nelda W. Gaffney, Spokane. He is a combat engineer with the 3rd Infantry Division in Schweinfurt, Germany.
