Shadow 3-2 Victor In Exhibition

The Spokane Shadow scored three unanswered goals to beat the host Yakima Reds 3-2 in an exhibition soccer match Saturday.

Tim Sealy scored and had an assist to rally the Shadow, who fell behind 2-0 in the first half.

Spokane’s first goal came on a direct kick by Sealy 18 yards out into the right-hand corner of the post at the 3:40 mark.

Chad Brown tied the match at 2-2 35 minutes into the first half, after Sealy beat three defenders and found Brown, who put it in on a header 6 feet out.

Brown then assisted on Dave Berto’s score to put the Shadow up 3-2.

Brown beat a defender down the end line, crossed it in towards Berto who was able to sneak it pass the Reds’ Derek Collins at the 38-minute mark.

Spokane’s goalkeeper, John Negel had eight saves, while Collins finished with 11.

Spokane’s first regular-season home game is Friday, May 3 at Spokane Falls Community College.

Crew

WSU’s women captured four of five events from Oregon State and GU at Wawawai (Wash.) Landing on the Snake River.

The Cougars won the varsity four, varsity eight, novice eight and junior varsity eight races on the choppy waters. OSU won the novice four.

OSU’s men swept WSU and the Zags in four events.

Track and field

WSU’s 3,200-meter relay team placed sixth in a field of 12 during the final day of the Penn Relays in Philadelphia.

The team of Ryan Ollerman, Eric Kamau, Eric Anderson and Rasto Kiplangat finished the race in 7 minutes, 27.35 seconds.
