Truck Passenger Dies In Wreck

From Staff And Wire Reports

A pickup truck rolled into the Sanpoil River seven miles south of Republic, Wash., early Tuesday, killing a 27-year-old passenger, the Washington State Patrol said.

Moreno M. Custodio died of massive head and internal injuries shortly after the 5:41 a.m. accident, the state patrol said. His hometown wasn’t immediately known.

The driver, Jorge V. DuQue, 22, of Anaheim, Calif., was treated for neck injuries and hypothermia at Ferry County Memorial Hospital.

DuQue was headed north on state Highway 21 when he veered off the road and overcorrected his steering, causing the 1984 Nissan pickup to roll.

Both men wore their seat belts, the state patrol said.
