Emergency crews’ response heartening

Recently, I heard a crash on Waikiki, near the Mill intersection. I called my husband to accompany me outside the main Fairwood Park entrance, and it took us about four minutes to get to a two-car crash site.

Both autos were badly damaged. Two women needed hospitalization, and a gentleman driver of one of the vehicles was sitting on the curb, very dazed but coherent.

We are senior Spokane citizens, a doctor and a nurse, and before emergency vehicles arrived on the scene I checked one lady driver for pulse and respirations, and as they were stable, in spite of her pallor, we suddenly became amazed at the arrival of the fire department rescue squad, followed shortly by two Spokane ambulances and a policeman.

We have only praise for the way each entity performed his or her lifesaving and precautionary duties.

Thank you, fire department, ambulances and policemen for a super job in every respect! Fairwood is out of the city limits and down the hill from Whitworth College.

We’re thankful we’re under your umbrellas. Elisabeth Fuller Spokane
