Paralegal Award Goes To Mcgarry

Mary McGarry, Spokane, was awarded the Washington State Paralegal Association President’s Award at a recent state convention in Olympia. The award is the association’s most prestigious honor.

McGarry is the editor of WSPA’s monthly newsletter, Findings and Conclusions. The newsletter has received national acclaim as one of the top newsletters in the country by board members of the National Federation of Paralegal Associations. She is a paralegal who serves as the video bailiff for Spokane County Superior Court Judge Michael Donohue.

Rochelle Caruso received a doctor of medicine degree from the George Washington School of Medicine and Health Sciences.

Caruso, the daughter of Peter and Elaine Caruso, Greenacres, completed her undergraduate degree at George Washington University earning a bachelor of science degree in zoology in 1992.

John McMurtery, Spokane, and a student at Central Washington University, received a Farrell scholarship for the 1996-97 academic year. The scholarship provides full university tuition, fees, and book and project costs.

Kelly Nolen, Spokane, received a master of law degree from the Northwestern School of Law of Lewis and Clark College. Nolen graduated magna cum laude.

Jack Horey, Spokane, was named Student of the Phase in the electronic technology course at Universal Technical Certified Automotive Technical Institute. The award is given to the student who has the best record of academic achievement, lab performance and attendance.

The following Inland Northwest students recently graduated from the University of Washington School of Medicine.

Craig McGoran, the son of Ernie and Andi McGoran, Spokane, graduated with honors. A 1988 graduate of Ferris High School, he earned his B.S. degree in biology from Stanford University in 1992.

Catherine Newstrom, daughter of Jim and Betty Newstrom, Veradale, graduated with honors. A 1988 graduate of Gonzaga Prep, she earned her B.S. degree in preprofessional studies from the University of Notre Dame in 1992.

Bonnie Waite, daughter of Bonnie Waite, Spokane, and Gerald Waite, Osprey, Fla., is a 1988 graduate of Central Valley High School and a 1992 graduate of Eastern Washington University.

Cheryl Green, Spokane, daughter of J. Cliff and Sandra Green, is a 1988 graduate of Gonzaga Prep and a 1992 graduate of Pacific Lutheran University, where she earned a B.A. degree in psychology.

Mark Buchholz, son of Les and Judy Buchholz, Spokane, is a 1988 graduate of University High School and a 1992 graduate of Carroll College, where he earned a B.A. degree in biology.

James Nedved, Spokane, son of Robert and Carol Nedved, is a 1987 graduate of Gonzaga Prep and a 1992 graduate of the University of Washington, where he earned his B.S. degrees in chemistry and biochemistry.

Edward Johnson, Spokane, son of Douglas and Linda Johnson, is a 1988 graduate of University High School and a graduate of the University of Puget Sound, where he earned his B.S. degree.
