Tidyman’s Names New Chief Executive

From Staff And Wire Reports

A man with 20 years of senior-level experience in the grocery industry has been chosen to lead the 11-store Tidyman’s chain.

John R. Maxwell will take over as chief executive officer for Greenacres-based Tidyman’s on Sept. 2.

Tidyman’s, which annually tops $200 million in sales, has stores in Eastern Washington, North Idaho and Western Montana.

By taking the job with Tidyman’s, Maxwell and his wife will be returning to a former home. During Maxwell’s tenure with Safeway Stores Inc., he lived in Spokane and served as division manager of 65 stores in the Eastern Washington and Montana regions.

Maxwell also has held executive-level positions at Shaw’s Supermarkets in East Bridgewater, Mass.

Maxwell replaces Jack Heuston, who resigned as CEO April 8. Retired Seafirst Bank executive Ric Odegard was named acting CEO while Tidyman’s searched for a new leader.
