Robert Clawson Palmer, Alaska

Visitation for Robert R. Clawson, 49, is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at Ball and Dodd Funeral HomeNorth. Service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with burial at Fairmount Memorial Park.

Mr. Clawson, a former Spokane resident, died Aug. 10.

He was born in Seattle.

He graduated from Shadle Park High School and served in the Navy aboard the USS Constellation during the Vietnam War. Following the war, he returned to Spokane and worked for Loomis Armored Inc.

He moved to Alaska 21 years ago and worked in the state department of corrections.

He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Nancy Clawson; six sons, Joseph Clawson, at home, Robbie and Randy Clawson, and James Olson, all of Vancouver, Wash., Pedro Cortez of Seattle and Marion Cortez of Pensacola, Fla.; a daughter, Caroline Cortez of San Antonio, Texas; his mother, Louise Clawson of Spokane; a brother, Ken Clawson of Loon Lake, Wash.; and two grandchildren.

Toni Voedisch Spokane

Memorial service for Toni Voedisch will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at 3911 E. Rich. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-North is in charge of cremation.

Mrs. Voedisch, 73, died Saturday.

She was born in Houston and had lived in Spokane for 52 years.

She had worked as a cashier and clerk at Pay Less Drugs downtown and at Shadle Center, for a total of 15 years. She also had worked at K-mart on North Division for 10 years and retired in 1991.

She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary Post 1475 and the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary Chapter 45.

Survivors include a son, Kenneth Pritchard of Spokane; two daughters, Billie Lyons of Redmond, Wash., and Valerie Pritchard of Spokane; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Nova Buckley Spokane

Service for Nova D. Buckley, 60, will be in Mountain View, Ark., with burial at Purdue Cemetery in Onia, Ark. Thornhill Valley Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.

Mrs. Buckley, who died Tuesday, was born in Onia.

She moved to Spokane from Oklahoma in 1973 and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Sullivan Ward.

Survivors include two daughters, Linda Sparkman of Oklahoma and Gale Willey of Everett; two brothers, four sisters, seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Arthur Boone Spokane

Memorial service for Arthur C. Boone, 73, was Thursday at Life Center Foursquare Church.

Born in Rockford, Mr. Boone died Tuesday.

He had worked as an order room manager for Darigold and had served in the military.

He is survived by three daughters, Laurel Helm of Cheney, Carol Sands of Bothell, Wash., and Susan Howe of Newport, Wash.; four sons, James Boone of Newport, Terrance Boone of Priest River, Idaho, Robert Boone of Seattle and Donald Boone of Spokane; 14 grandchildren and four grandchildren.

Russell Scott Kent, Wash.

Memorial service for Russell Dale Scott, 21, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Price-Helton Funeral Chapel in Auburn, Wash.

Mr. Scott, a former Spokane resident, died Tuesday in a swimming accident at Angle Lake in Sea Tac, Wash.

He was born in Twin Falls, Idaho, and attended Shadle Park and Rogers high schools in Spokane, and moved to Kent 10 months ago.

In Kent, he worked for Sears, delivering appliances, and with the American Diabetes Association as a counselor.

He is survived by his mother, Ruth Scott of Auburn; his father, Tim Scott of Spokane; a daughter, Taylor Moon of Spokane; a brother, Teddy Rexall of Phoenix, Ariz.; and his grandmothers, Dorothy Scott of Spokane and Lorraine Walker of Phoenix, Ariz.

Violet Gabriel Spokane

Memorial service for Violet B. Gabriel, 72, is planned for 10 a.m. Saturday at Riplinger Funeral Home.

Mrs. Gabriel, who died Monday, was born in Java, S.D., and had lived in Spokane for 40 years.

She is survived by her husband, George Gabriel; two daughters, Peggy Gabriel of Bellevue, Wash., and Donna Emerson of Woodland, Wash.; a son, Donald Gabriel of Spokane; two brothers, Theodore and Johnny Bauer, both of South Dakota; two sisters, Emma Stine and Mable Jones, both of South Dakota; three grandchildren, three stepgrandchildren and two-great-granddaughters.

Ralph Bertelson Spokane

Visitation for Ralph F. Bertelson, 67, is scheduled from noon to 8 p.m. today at Thornhill Valley Funeral Home. Service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Pines Cemetery.

Mr. Bertelson died Wednesday.

He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and served in the Air Force during the Korean War.

He lived in Butte, Mont., from 1950 to 1967.

In 1967, he and his wife Lorraine, moved to Spokane. He worked as a painting contractor and retired from the maintenance department of Gonzaga University in 1992.

He owned his own plane, which he flew, and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years; two sons, Paul Bertelson of Spokane and Glen Bertelson of Reno, Nev.; a daughter, Cathy Kivett of Spokane; two grandsons and four great-grandchildren.

Dorothy Lareva Spokane

Memorial service for Dorothy G. Lareva, 80, is planned for 7:30 p.m. today at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home. Private inurnment will be at Riverside Memorial Park.

Mrs. Lareva, who was born in Lincoln City, Wash., died Saturday.

She was a 70-year Spokane resident and worked for the state of Washington as a welfare examiner.

Her husband, Lester Lareva, died in 1955.

She is survived by three daughters, Judy Gross of Spokane, Kathryn Hansen of Valleyford and Joan Lareva of Saginaw, Texas; a brother, Robert Watts of Spokane; two sisters, Evelyn Rasmussen of Spokane and Myrtle Barnes of Sacheen Lake, Wash.; 13 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Valeda Long Spokane

Service for Valeda P. Long, 81, will be at 10:30 a.m. today at Bethel Church of the Nazarene. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Long, who died Tuesday, was born in Moscow, Idaho, and had lived in Spokane for 52 years.

She was a cafeteria manager for Spokane School District 81, and was a member of Bethel Church of the Nazarene.

She is survived by two daughters, Dolores Losh and Sylvia Laramie, both of Spokane; her mother, Kathryn Parrish of Palouse, Wash.; two brothers, Vern Parrish of Potlatch, Idaho, and Swede Parrish of Palouse; a sister, Joy Williamson of Coeur d’Alene; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Thomas Hunt Sr. Coeur d’Alene

Memorial service for Thomas William Hunt Sr., 96, will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene.

Mr. Hunt, who was born in Kingston, Idaho, died Monday.

He was a lifelong resident of North Idaho and worked as a contractor and gypo logger until retiring in 1965.

Mr. Hunt was the last person to have pioneer rights enabling him to keep horses in the city limits of Coeur d’Alene at his 10th Street home near Tubbs Hill, which he did until four years ago.

He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles.

Survivors include his wife of 74 years, Ivy; one son, Thomas Hunt Jr. of Tacoma; four daughters, Margaret Toomey of Sandpoint, Billee Stanley and Grace Smith, both of Coeur d’Alene, and Naida Dupree of Spokane; eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Joseph Erickson Kennewick

Burial Mass for Joseph Patrick Erickson, 47, will be at 10 a.m. today at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Kennewick. Burial will follow at Riverview Heights Cemetery in Kennewick. Einan’s Funeral Home in Richland is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Erickson died Tuesday at home.

He was born in Coeur d’Alene, and attended school in Spokane.

He moved to Kennewick in 1977.

He was an attorney and was involved with the Washington State Bar General Practice Section and the Washington State Bar Association Task Force on Government. He was a member of Gonzaga Law School Dean’s Advisory Board, the Tri-Cities Estate Planning Council and the Kiwanis.

He is survived by his wife, Anne; two sons, Matt Erickson and John Erickson, and one daughter, Kristen Erickson, all at home; his parents, Herbert and Dorothy Erickson; three brothers, Matthew, Philip and Todd Erickson; and two sisters, Anne Fortun and Mary Evelyn Erickson.
