Louis Joseph Hoerner Spokane

Louis Joseph Hoerner is 100 years old today.

Born Aug. 21, 1896, in Speir, Russia, the second of 15 children, he has lived in the Northwest for 60 years and at his current residence for the past 51 years.

He married Mary Renner in 1921. She died in 1984.

Hoerner was a housing contractor and then buildings and grounds superintendent at Gonzaga University for 30 years. He has been a St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church parishioner for 60 years.

He was honored earlier with a party at Cataldo Hall attended by 110 family members and friends.

The couple had three children: Leonard Hoerner, Medford, Ore., Lorine Lynch, Spokane, and the late Longine Costello, Tacoma.

Hoerner has 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
