Suspect Held In Beach Shooting
Sheriff’s deputies on Sunday arrested a teenager suspected of shooting a man at a popular Spokane Valley swimming spot.
Russell James Ellenwood, 19, was arrested on Interstate 90 in the Valley after deputies stopped a car he was riding in, Lt. David Wiyrick said Monday.
Detectives think Ellenwood used a handgun to shoot Clifford George of Toppenish, Wash., at close range after the two argued Aug. 7 at Boulder Beach on the Spokane River.
George, 20, was shot in the head and side but survived the attack. Ellenwood fled the scene, witnesses said.
On Monday, he was charged with one count of first-degree assault and ordered held in the Spokane County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail. , DataTimes
