Oregon has approved two new big-game hunting opportunities for next fall:

Special deer and elk tags earmarked for first-time youth hunters.

The first hunt for Rocky Mountain goats since 1968.

Only two goat tags will be available for hunting goats next year. The two hunters will be required to attend an orientation class before they hunt.

Oregon set aside 250 new deer and elk tags for youths 12-17 who have never hunted big game. Youths first must apply for a regular controlled hunt tag. If unsuccessful, they then may apply for the first-time tags in a September drawing. , DataTimes
