Library Trustee Applicants Sought
Stevens County Commissioners are seeking applications for the five-member board of trustees that will design the new rural library district voters approved last month.
The board’s first job will be to prepare a budget. County commissioners will impose a tax of up to 50 cents per $1,000 of assessed value to support the library district after a budget is adopted sometime next year.
Trustees must live in the unincorporated portions of Stevens County that will pay the tax. Trustees also will be expected to attend meetings every two weeks and travel throughout the county, commissioners said.
Terms will be staggered from one to five years initially, and eventually all the trustees will have five-year terms. People interested in the job should submit a one-page letter with their name, address, phone number and qualifications by Dec. 31. Letters should be addressed to: Stevens County Commissioners, 215 S. Oak, Room 214, Colville, WA 99114.
