Emmanuel Lutheran Offers Advent Classes
Emmanuel Lutheran Church is having a series of special adult education classes this month focusing on different aspects of Advent.
The classes are held each Sunday at 9:15 a.m.
Next Sunday’s class, led by organist Keith Thomas, will focus on the music used during the Advent season.
The session Dec. 15 will cover the literature unique to the time of Advent. The final meeting on Dec. 22 will look at the visual art of Advent and Christmas.
All classes are at the church, 314 S. Spruce. No advance registration is required.

Yule musical scheduled
The music and drama department of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church will present a one-act Christmas musical at 2 p.m. Saturday and at 7 p.m. Sunday.
The play, titled “Christmas Blue,” was written by Valentino Jimenez. Admission is $1 for the Saturday performance and $2 on Sunday.
The Sunday performance includes cookies and Christmas punch.
The performances will be at the church, 5720 S. Perry.

Cathedral plans program
The Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist will present its first holiday program Sunday at 4 p.m.
“Christmas Crackers,” billed as an “Olde English family celebration,” will feature music and stories from the Cathedral Choir, the Spokane Area Children’s Chorus, and the Gonzaga University Choir. The free program will be directed by Albert Gunderson.
The cathedral is at 127 E. 12th.

Whitworth Choir will perform
The 1996 Christmas festival concert “Glory in the Highest,” featuring the Whitworth College Choir, will be presented at First Presbyterian Church, 318 S. Cedar.
Performances will be at 8 p.m. Dec. 13 and at 2 and 8 p.m. Dec. 14. Tickets are $10 and available through G & B Select-A-Seat by calling 325-SEAT.
No tickets will be sold at the door.
