Hundreds Attend Cheney-Ewu Benefit Auction

More than 300 people attended and more than 300 items were donated for the Cheney Chamber of Commerce’s sixth annual “Auction Mania” fund-raiser last Friday.

Amy Jo Sooy, chamber executive director, said more than $30,000 - a record - was raised from bidding on items which included a hot tub, a trip to Mazatlan, a riding golf cart, NFL Pro Bowl tickets and a basketball autographed by the Chicago Bulls’ Michael Jordan.

Proceeds from the auction, which was held at EWU’s Pence Union Building, are shared equally by the EWU Athletic Association for scholarships and by the Cheney Chamber for community projects, including the Christmas tree lighting and decorations, the rodeo parade and fall welcoming activities for EWU students. , DataTimes
