Letters To The Editor

People really are good

I want to thank the young people who helped me get up the Monroe Street Hill on the North Side of town on Dec. 4.

My son has been a patient in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit at Sacred Heart Medical Center since Nov. 9.

I was on my way home from the hospital around 4 p.m. I heard on the radio that Maple Street was closed due to stalled or stuck cars. So I turned off Second Avenue onto Washington to go to Indiana and turn on Monroe since the radio said it was still open.

I was driving a 1985 blue and white Blazer with four-wheel drive, I thought. It turns out the fourwheel drive doesn’t work, even though the lights said it was in four-wheel drive.

Anyway, I got stuck and these young people pushed and pushed, and got me up the hill. I finally made it to Garland Avenue.

I honked and waved, but of course, couldn’t stop to thank them, but I just want them to know how much I appreciate them - and also to let everyone know how really good people are! Shirley Tapscott Spokane
