Radio Listeners Replace Stolen Cash

There’s no lack of Christmas spirit in central Oregon, where listeners of radio station KRCO-AM sent in nearly $700 in one day to replace the cash stolen earlier this week from a VISTA volunteer’s wallet.

Julie Raines, 34, of Bend, a single mom, planned to use the money to buy Christmas gifts for her four kids. She forgot her wallet at the Bend post office on Wednesday. When she returned, the $260 was gone.

Her story was broadcast Friday and donations came pouring in.
