Mayme Bertina Hanson Spokane

Mayme Bertina (Slind) Hanson, Spokane, is 100 years old today.

Mrs. Hanson was born Dec. 25, 1896, in Windom, Minn. She has lived in Eastern Washington for 36 years and was a hotel and apartment house owner.

She married Hartwick Nelson in 1920, and the couple had four children: Hewlett J. Nelson, Spokane; Lloyd E. Nelson, Nine Mile Falls; Arleen M. Reid, Spokane; and the late Virgil H. Nelson. Her husband died in 1950. Mrs. Hanson married Martin Hanson in 1953, and he died in 1960.

Mrs. Hanson has 12 grandchildren, 12 greatgrandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

She attributes her longevity to hard work.
