Weber State scored the final six points of the game, including Jodi Wimmer’s go-ahead layup with 25 seconds left as the Wildcats avenged an early season loss to Washington State with a 77-71 non-conference win Saturday night at Ogden, Utah.
Wimmer, who scored 19 points, broke a 71-71 tie with 25 seconds to play, then added a free throw to complete the three-point play.
WSU’s Yvonne Kunze led all players with 23 points, while Jennifer Ludwicki added 13 for the Cougars. Early in December, WSU (5-3) had defeated Weber State (5-5) in the final of the Dial Classic.
“We didn’t play defense and we didn’t rebound,” WSU coach Harold Rhodes said. “We lost the game on the offensive boards.”
WSU was outrebounded 39-25.

Central Florida 73, EWU 66
At Orlando, Fla., a 12-2 first-half run erased Eastern Washington’s 10-point lead and eventually led to the Eagles’ defeat against the host team in the University of Central Florida Holiday Classic.
Eastern (2-6), which also watched a 10-point lead slip away last week against Idaho, was ahead 23-13 midway through the first half. UCF (2-4) tied the score at 25 with 5:13 left in the half and the Eagles never led after that.
Eastern was paced by junior guard Tanya Kirk’s second double-double as she grabbed 14 boards and scored 13 points. Rachel Ferguson finished with a team-high 16 points and Jennifer Suttter added 11 assists.
The Eagles, giving up 23 offensive rebounds, played without 6-foot-3 backup center Shae Olson, who missed the team flight to Orlando because of bad weather in Oregon.
“Without Shae (Olson) it took away the presence of a player that has size down low,’ Eastern coach Heidi VanDerveer said. “You cannot give up 23 offensive rebounds and win. Our goal was to give up only 10. Obviously we didn’t do that.”
