Cross-Country Idaho
Nordic skiing
A day of free access to Idaho’s public cross-country ski trails is set for Jan. 11.
“Cross-country Idaho” is organized by the state Parks and Recreation Department to encourage people to try the sport.
Free parking will be offered at 15 Park ‘n’ Ski areas and six state parks in Idaho.
Many state parks, including Farragut and Priest Lake, will offer some sort of casual activity, including beginner ski lessons.
The Panhandle Nordic Club usually has an informal presence at the Fourth of July Pass ski trails warming hut for the special day. Forest Service workers have cleared numerous blowdowns off the trails in recent weeks to allow the club to groom.
