Cougs Nail An Easy Win Over Asu

Four Cougars scored in double figures Thursday night as Washington State handed Arizona State its eighth consecutive Pacific-10 Conference loss with a 93-77 victory in Bohler Gym at Pullman.

Julie Wight led the Cougars (14-5, 5-3) with 22 points and seven rebounds. Five of Wight’s baskets were 3-pointers. Jenni Ruff and Yvonne Kunze added 20 points apiece. Kunze also grabbed 10 rebounds for her fifth double-double of the season.

Charity Amama led Arizona State (4-13, 0-8) with 23 points.

WSU never gave Arizona State a chance. The Cougars established an 11-point lead in the first 5 minutes and soon stretched it to 19 points.

Jamie Redd scored 14 of her game-high 18 points in the second half and added 12 rebounds to lead the Huskies (12-7, 6-2) past the Wildcats (13-4, 4-4) in Pac-10 play at Seattle.

Washington forced 31 Arizona turnovers and outscored Arizona 56-40 in the second half to erase a sixpoint halftime deficit and earn its 12th victory in its last 15 games.

The Lions romped to a 41-17 halftime lead then coasted to a West Coast Conference victory in Martin Centre.

Loyola Marymount substituted freely in the second half, but increased its advantage to 29 points, at 56-29, with 13:45 remaining.

Erin Caviezel came off the bench to lead Loyola with 16 points. Forward Lydia Ledgerwood was Gonzaga’s top scorer with 13.
