Lollis Leads Montana St. Over Ewu
Quadre Lollis had 23 points and 14 rebounds to lead Montana State to an 85-66 Big Sky Conference men’s basketball victory over Eastern Washington Friday night in Bozeman, Mont.
EWU (2-15 overall, 0-6 Big Sky) cut the lead to nine points on two occasions, the last on a jumper by D’mitri Rideout with 8:08 left to make the score 59-50.
“All of our mistakes are happening during pressure situations, so we’re going to have to continue to work and emphasize that,” EWU coach Steve Aggers said. “It’s a concentration thing, and ultimately that’s our coaching. We’ve tried to correct those mental errors.”
Adam Leachman also had a double-double for Montana State (13-6, 5-1), finishing with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
MSU led 20-8 in the first 5 minutes as Danny Sprinkle had seven points, Lollis six and Leachman five during the run.
The Bobcats led 39-26 at halftime, and pushed it to as much as 51-32 with 15:33 remaining.
Also in double figures for Montana State were Nico Harrison and Sprinkle with 16 points each.
Travis King led EWU with 14 points, six rebounds and six assists. Melvin Lewis added 13, Rideout 11 and Brett Thompson 10.
Lewis played 20 minutes for EWU, mostly in place of center Adam Dean, who did not play. The Bobcats outrebounded the Eagles 45-33, in part because EWU missed 38 shots.
The Eagles visit Montana tonight, with tipoff scheduled for 6:35 PST. The Grizzlies slammed Idaho 94-68 Friday night.
