Chase Students Honored By Cops Southeast
Kayla Gileck, daughter of Ron and Tricia Gileck, and Jennifer Durbin, daughter of Richard and Agnes Durbin, received a Certificate of Appreciation from COPS Southeast for assisting a woman who was mugged at Lincoln Heights.
The girls, students at Chase Middle School, stayed with the victim until the police arrived and were able to give information regarding the incident.
Adam Rapelje, a freshman at Washington State University, completed his first semester and is on the President’s Honor Roll. A 1995 graduate of Northwest Christian High School, he was a member of the National Honor Society, listed in Who’s Who in Sports, and was a starter on the 1994 State B basketball team. He is the son of David and Lyla Rapelje.
Chris J. Gronenthal, son of Mike and Karen Gronenthal, Spokane recently graduated from the first class of AmeriCorps’ National Civilian Community Corps at the Naval Training Center in San Diego.
Air Force Staff Sgt. James R. Pickard was named noncommissioned Officer of the Quarter at Beale Air Force Base, Marysville, Calif. Pickard’s wife, Christine Hibdon Pickard, is from Spokane.
R. Sean Halsted, a combat control apprentice at McChord Air Force Base, has been promoted to the rank of senior airman. He is the son of Ronald L. and C. Thanne Halsted, Spokane.
Earl L. Mills Jr., an Air National Guard airman, recently graduated from the security police specialist course at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. Mills is the son of Earl L. and Vicki E. Mills, Post Falls and graduated from Post Falls High School in 1995.
Carrie A. Hebert, an Air Force senior airman, earned an associate degree in applied science through the Community College of the Air Force. Hebert, an informationmanagement specialist at Altus Air Force Base, Okla., is a 1987 graduate of Mead High School and is the daughter of Judy Lymon, Otis Orchards, and James Maxian, Spokane.
Three students at Lincoln Middle School, Pullman, were named Students of the Month for December in a program sponsored by the Pullman Kiwanis Club.
The winners were: Brianna Boehland, sixth grade, and Amy Chamberlain, seventh grade, both daughters of Jodi and Tom Chamberlain; and Emily Sodorff, eighth grade, daughter of Mike and Chris Sodorff.
