O’Brien Wins Hurdles

Two-time decathlon world champion Dan O’Brien finished first in 7.75 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles at the Gallery Furniture Games indoor track meet. Two-time Olympic gold medalist Roger Kingdom came in third in 7.85, while University of Texas senior Derek Spears was second in 7.84.

O’Brien was third in the long jump at 25 feet, 4-1/2 inches.

The men’s 60-meter dash belonged to Leroy Burrell, an Olympic gold-medal winner. Burrell clocked 6.64. Carl Lewis, an eight-time Olympic gold medalist who turns 35 soon, came in fifth at 6.84. Lewis and Burrell are Houston alums.
