Packs Of Wild Dogs Terrorize Russian Town

Compiled From Wire Services

Wild dogs are running rampant in a central Russian village, chasing deer through the streets and terrorizing residents, a Russian news agency said Saturday.

“Wild dogs have become the real masters of the streets, especially at night,” ITAR-Tass said.

It said packs of wild dogs ran down five spotted deer this week alone in the streets of Orgtrud, gnawing on their prey in full daylight to the horror of villagers. The reports said the deer often wander close to the town because people feed them in the winter.

ITAR-Tass said many of the dogs used to guard orchards in the region but had been abandoned by their owners.
