Kellogg Hits 67 Percent In Thumping Of Post Falls

Kellogg took its time to warm up on Saturday, but was downright sizzling when it finally did.

The Wildcats (14-2) shot 67 percent from the floor in the third quarter and made 20 of 25 free throws for the game in beating visiting Post Falls 74-55 in a non-league game. Kellogg trailed by two points at halftime

Casey Fisher had 12 rebounds to lead Kellogg. Austin Lee of the Trojans (9-8) had seven rebounds.

Ken Pluff hit a 3-pointer to tie the game with 7 seconds left in the first overtime, then he, Brendon Nelson and Buck Allen had two free throws apiece in the second OT as the visiting Knights (13-3) beat the Miners (6-11) in a non-leaguer.

Allen had eight rebounds for Lakeside, which hit 21 of 27 free throws. Ryan Nipp had 10 rebounds and John Heyn seven steals for Wallace.

Defensive pressure in the fourth quarter and 15 offensive rebounds in the second half allowed the visiting Bears (12-3, 5-1) to rally over the Badgers (8-7, 4-3).

Brian Meeker had eight rebounds for Bonners Ferry, which lost to Moscow by 44 the first time the teams met.

Liberty and Sprague-Harrington needed overtime in their final game to prove which one deserved a higher seed into the Bi-County League Tournament.

Travis Greenwalt scored 30 points Saturday, including 7 of 8 free throws in the fourth quarter and OT, as the visiting and sixth-ranked Lancers (14-5, 11-3) edged the Falcons.

S-H (12-8, 9-5) needed a three-point win to secure the No. 3 seed and an opening-round bye to the tourney that begins Tuesday at Reardan. Instead, Liberty earned the bye and the fifth-seeded Falcons play a loser-out game against Wilbur-Creston.
