Wednesday, 9 a.m., employee service awards, human resources office;

Thursday, 10:30 a.m., mental health center meeting;

1:30 p.m., health board meeting, Spokane County Health District;

Friday, 9:30 a.m., Growth Management Act meeting, main floor conference room, human resources office.

State Commission on Student Learning

Tuesday, 6 p.m., public forum, Spokane Falls Community College, Building 17, Rooms A and B, 3410 W. Fort Wright Drive.

The commission will hold a statewide teleconference to collect opinions on learning standards in science, social studies, the arts and health and fitness.

Spokane School Board

Wednesday, noon, regular meeting, 200 N. Bernard.

The board will hear about a way to evaluate students’ reading skills and review a Skills Center construction contract.

Spokane Plan Commission

Wednesday, 1:30 p.m. regular meeting, City Hall, 808 W. Spokane Falls Blvd.

The commission will consider a proposal to change the Hillyard neighborhood land-use plan to allow a commercial use on the northeast corner of Francis Avenue and Crestline Street.

Cheney School Board

Wednesday, 7 p.m., regular meeting, district office, 520 Fourth St., Cheney.

The board will take action on a new music curriculum.

Spokane County Planning Commission

Thursday, 9 a.m., regular business, lower level of the Public Works Building;

9:45 a.m., public hearing on proposed amendment to the zoning code to allow single-family homes and duplexes in the urban residential-12 area and to include the UR-12 zone on the list of zones that permit zero lot line housing;

10 a.m., public hearing on proposed amendment to the zoning code to add additional industrial uses to the industrial zones matrix;

10:30 a.m., OSE-01-95 application for current use assessment classification open space land.

Spokane City Council

Thursday, 3:30 p.m. special study session, City Hall, 808 W. Spokane Falls Blvd.

The council will discuss the growth management act.

Friday, 9:30 a.m. regular meeting, County Resources Building, 1229 W. Mallon.

Central Valley School Board

Monday, 6:30 p.m., Central Valley administrative building, 19307 E. Cataldo.

The board will hear an update on the superintendent search and discuss the makeup of a team to help select the architect for the new Liberty Lake elementary school.

East Valley School Board

Tuesday, 7:15 p.m., Trent Elementary, 3303 N. Pines.

The board will hear updates on the bond and levy, modified school calendar and middle school alternative program.

West Valley School Board

Wednesday, 11 a.m. meeting, Ness Elementary, 9612 E. Cataldo.

The board plans to hear reports on professional technical education and the bond and levy results.
