Marie Van Slate Coeur d’Alene
Vigil service for Marie Christine Van Slate, 49, will be today at 8 p.m. at St. Pius Catholic Church in Coeur d’Alene. Mass will be Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Pius with burial to follow at St. Thomas Cemetery in Coeur d’Alene. English Funeral Home in Coeur d’Alene is in charge of arrangements.
Ms. Van Slate was killed Tuesday in a shooting at the Spokane Ridpath Hotel restaurant where she was a waitress.
She moved to the Coeur d’Alene area about 10 years ago and was a former employee of The Coeur d’Alene Resort. She was a member of St. Pius Catholic Church.
Survivors include a son, Cary Allen of California; three daughters, Nicole, Monique and Simone Van Slate, all of Coeur d’Alene; a brother, Patrick Mayer of Nevada; and three grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to any branch of Northern State Bank or Washington Trust Bank.
Edward Amell Spokane
Graveside service for Edward J. Amell, 72, is planned for 1 p.m. Monday at Spokane Memorial Gardens. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Amell, who was born in Spokane, died Monday.
He was a driver for Chamberlain Wrecking, had driven a log truck for many years and also worked in building maintenance.
Survivors include his wife, Alice Amell; two half-brothers, Bill Graf of Spokane and Richard Graf of Twin Lakes, Idaho; and one half-sister, Shirley Gambel of Spokane.
