Kostner Cruises To Victory

Italy’s Isolde Kostner opened the World Alpine Championships with a victory in a super-G as defending champion Katja Seizinger of Germany crashed early in her run.

Kostner raced down the 7,464-foot course in 1 minute, 21.00 seconds. Switzerland’s Heidi Zurbriggen was second in 1:21.66 and American star Picabo Street followed in 1:21.71.
