Montana Player Ruled Ineligible
The NCAA has ruled a University of Montana football player, who failed a drug test after the team’s I-AA national championship game, is ineligible to compete for a year.
The decision has no affect on the school’s 22-20 victory over Marshall.
UM appealed the positive drug test, saying the school believed it was triggered by an allowed medication. The NCAA denied the appeal.
The student, whom the school would not identify, is ineligible until Dec. 16, 1996. The school did not say what drug the test revealed.
