Obituaries

Wally Krasselt St. Maries

Service for Wally F. Krasselt, 79, will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Community Presbyterian Church in St. Maries. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. Yates-Hodge Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Krasselt, who was born in Garfield, Wash., died Saturday.

He grew up near Potlatch, Idaho, and worked for the Civilian Conservation Corps, as a young man. He later moved to Spokane and worked at Fort George Wright Hospital as a civilian employee.

Mr. Krasselt moved to St. Maries in 1936 and worked as a jeweler. He served in the Army in World War II.

He owned a jewelry store and gun shop in St. Maries and purchased Benewah Motors in 1969. He retired in 1981.

Mr. Krasselt was an avid hunter and enjoyed fishing.

He was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, the Scottish Rite Bodies, Calam Shrine Temple and the St. Maries Masonic Lodge. He was also a member of the National Rifle Association.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Beatrice; three sons, Gary and Dennis, both of Kent, Wash., and David of St. Maries; one daughter, Sandra Schneider of Redmond, Wash.; one brother, Guy Krasselt of Potlatch; two sisters, Mary Courser of Greenacres and Martha McLain of Clarkston, Wash.; 13 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.

Robert Crow Oakesdale, Wash.

Visitation for Robert Arthur “Bob” Crow, 88, is scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at Community Presbyterian Church in Oakesdale. Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Family burial will precede at Oakesdale Cemetery. Bruning Funeral Home of Colfax, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Crow, who died Wednesday, was born in Oakesdale to pioneer parents.

He graduated from Oakesdale High School.

In 1926 he married Edna Hall. They farmed in the Oakesdale area and retired in 1957.

Mr. Crow then sold farm real estate until 1970.

He played the trumpet in dance bands and sang in quartets, choirs and the Shrine chanters.

He was a member of Community Presbyterian Church and sang in and directed the choir for many years. He was a member of Oakesdale Masonic Lodge 55, Oakesdale Grange 1025, Hope Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star, and the El Katif Shrine.

He is survived by his wife, Edna Crow; one son, Mac Crow of Oakesdale; two daughters, Jannis Snook of Deer Park and Jerrene Holling of Fairfield; one brother, Charles Crow of Oakesdale; nine grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to Oakesdale Community Presbyterian Church or the Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children.

Martha J. Gralapp Spokane

Service for Martha J. Gralapp, 86, is planned for 1 p.m. today at Heritage Funeral Home.

Mrs. Gralapp, who was born in Espanola, Wash., died Sunday.

She was a longtime Spokane resident and had worked as a medical attendant in the health-care industry.

She was a member of Valley Foursquare Church and its Bible study group.

Her husband, Ralph Gralapp, preceded her in death.

Mrs. Gralapp is survived by one daughter, Carol Johnson of Medical Lake; one brother, Walter Thiemens of Coeur d’Alene; one sister, Helen Graves of Yakima; four grandchildren and one great-grandson.

Peggylou Munson Spokane

Family graveside service for Peggylou Munson, 61, will be held. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Munson, who died Friday, was a lifetime Spokane resident.

She graduated from Rogers High School and Spokane Falls Community College. She worked as a home healthcare provider.

Survivors include her husband Clifford; two sons, Donald Munson of Port Angeles, Wash., and Leonnard Munson of Spokane; three daughters, Louise Koep and Diana Nelson, both of Spokane, and Peggy Joseph of Coeur d’Alene; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Spokane.

Lenard Wahl Lind, Wash.

Visitation for Lenard Leroy Wahl, 67, is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. today at Danekas Funeral Home in Ritzville, Wash. Service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Lind United Methodist Church. Vault burial will follow at the Lind Cemetery. Danekas Funeral Home of Ritzville is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Wahl, who was born in Lind, died Sunday.

He grew up on the family farm and graduated from Lind High School.

In 1950 he married Ava Gunter in Coeur d’Alene. They farmed six miles north of Lind for more than 50 years.

Mr. Wahl retired from farming in 1993.

He was a member of United Methodist Church, Lind Lions Club, Lind Grange, Lind Gun Club and the Washington Association of Wheat Growers.

Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Linda Borth of Walla Walla, and Bonnie Grams and Patti Schilling, both of Ritzville; one son, Gary Wahl of Lind; one brother, Albert Wahl of Lind; six sisters, Esther Ferrier and Phyllis Stelzer, both of Lind, Viola Miller of Seattle, Jeanne Michel of Othello, Wash., Arlene Starring of Coulee City, Wash., and Margie Freeleigh of Post Falls; and 10 grandchildren.

Perry Crandall Spokane

Memorial service for Perry W. Crandall, 87, is set for 1 p.m. Wednesday at Emmanuel Presbyterian Church. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Born in Merced, Calif., Mr. Crandall, died Thursday.

He had lived in Spokane for 23 years and worked at the Bureau of Reclamation for 35 years as a powerhouse supervisor.

He was a member of Emmanuel Presbyterian Church.

Mr. Crandall is survived by his wife of 61 years, Alice Crandall; one son, Larry Crandall of Bellingham; one daughter, Gail Sabaj of Wichita, Kan.; one sister, Civilla Daniels of San Jose, Calif.; and eight grandchildren.

Evelyn Sylvander Spokane

Memorial service for Evelyn M. Sylvander, 70, will be at 2 p.m. today at Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-South.

Ms. Sylvander died Friday.

She was born in Spokane and graduated from North Central High School.

She served in Japan as a civilian employee of the Air Force in the 1950s.

Ms. Sylvander was a member of First Covenant Church.

There are no surviving family members.

William Galvin Deer Lake

Service for William Fetters “Bill” Galvin, 62, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Heritage Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.

Mr. Fetters, a retired fuel truck driver, died Sunday. He was born in Wilmar, Calif.

He had lived in Spokane since he was a child and worked as a fuel truck driver for more than 30 years. He had worked for Boyle Fuel and Banner Fuel and retired in 1989.

He married Carol Howard in Spokane in 1960.

Mr. Galvin was a member of Teamsters Union Local 690 and the Independent Order of Foresters.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years; one daughter, Linda Galvin of Spokane; one son, David Galvin of Mead; one brother, Ray Galvin of Kimberly, Idaho; one sister, Patty Claridge of Sonoita, Ariz.; and two grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the Diabetes Association.

Josephine Schultz Spokane

Service for Josephine Iris Schultz, 78, will be at 1 p.m. today at Riplinger Funeral Home with burial at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.

Mrs. Schultz, who died Friday, was born in Hingham, Mont.

She graduated from North Central High School and was a homemaker.

She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Spokane Chapter No. 163, and a charter member of the Ladies Oriental Shrine, Eiram Court No. 82, Daughters of the Nile, and El Karnak Temple.

Mrs. Schultz is survived by her husband, Glen Schultz; two sons, Ron Schultz of Loon Lake, Wash., and Rod Schultz of St. Peters, Mo.; 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

John ‘Jack’ Griffin Spokane

Private service will be held for John W. “Jack” Griffin, 74, at a later date. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Griffin, who died Friday, was born in Joliet, Ill.

He was a 45-year Spokane resident and worked as a printer for Hulett Printing.

He served in the Navy during World War II.

Mr. Griffin is survived by his wife of 51 years, Kathleen; two daughters, Carol Griffin of Coeur d’Alene and Nancy McIntosh of Vancouver, Wash; one son, Kenneth Griffin of Spokane; one brother, Raymond Griffin of Joliet; two granddaughters and one great-grandson.

Helen Fitzgerald Spokane

Private burial for Helen H. Fitzgerald, will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Colma, Calif. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.

Mrs. Fitzgerald, 86, died Saturday.

She had lived in Spokane since 1981 and was a homemaker.

Her husband, Jack Fitzgerald, died in 1983.

She is survived by three sons, James Fitzgerald of San Jose, Calif., and Daniel and John Fitzgerald, both of Spokane; and three grandchildren.

May (Muhm) Decker Spokane

Graveside service for May (Muhm) Decker, 98, is set for 11 a.m. today at Spokane Memorial Gardens. Memorial service will follow at 2 p.m. at Spokane Valley United Methodist Church. Ball and Dodd Funeral HomeSouth is in charge of arrangements.

Born in Randolph, Neb., Mrs. Decker died Friday.

She had lived in the Spokane valley for 50 years and had graduated from Wayne State Teachers College in Nebraska.

She taught in Nespelem, Wash., and met her husband, Leo Decker, an educational field agent, while teaching there.

Mrs. Decker was a member of Spokane Valley United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Rachel Fellowship, and the church Bible study group.

She was active with the Union Gospel Mission and had served more than 20 years on the board of women’s auxiliary of the Union Gospel Mission.

Her husband, Leo, died in 1971.

She is survived by one daughter, Leota Gainey of Ogden, Utah; one stepson, Carter Decker of Spokane; one stepdaughter, Evelyn Blair of Boulder, Colo.; seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Donald Bergheim Spokane

Service for Donald E. Bergheim, 73, is set for 11 a.m. today at Thornhill Valley Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Pines Cemetery.

Mr. Bergheim, who died Thursday at home, was born in Howard, S.D.

He moved to Spokane in 1953 and worked for Kaiser Aluminum as a potman for 28 years.

He served in the Navy during World War II and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1435 and the American Bowling Congress.

His wife, Verna, died in 1986.

Survivors include two sons, Randy and Richard Bergheim, both of Spokane; two daughters, Debrah Wallace of Fort Lewis, Wash., and Cheryl Jensen of Spokane; one brother, Richard Bergheim of Florida; two sisters, Muriel Bergheim of California and Sylvia Tow of South Dakota; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Albert Dahl Cheney

No service will be held for Albert V. Dahl, at his request. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-South is in charge of cremation.

Mr. Dahl, 77, died Saturday.

He was born in Apache, Okla.

He had lived in Cheney since 1950 and was a cattle rancher.

Mr. Dahl served in the Navy for six years during World War II and was a member of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 6.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Geraldine Dahl; one son, Gary Dahl of Cheney; three daughters, Gloria Dahl and Jill Siverly, both of Spokane, and Gayle Ferguson of Stayton, Ore.; two sisters, Gladys Eads and Dorothy Dahl, and one brother, Donald Dahl, all of Apache; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
