Bond Drop Halts Dollar’s Gains

The dollar gave up gains against the German mark and Japanese yen to end mixed Thursday after following U.S. bond prices through an afternoon drop.

The U.S. currency finished slightly higher against the German mark and lower against the Japanese yen.

By 4 p.m. in New York, the dollar was trading at 1.4665 marks, up from 1.4644 on Wednesday. It finished at 105.55 yen, compared with 106.25 the day before.
