Associated Press

An Idaho woman was killed and at least 10 other people injured when a school van from Lake County collided with a pickup truck near the summit of Lookout Pass on Thursday evening, Mineral County officials said.

Mineral County Undersheriff Anita Parkin said the dead woman was in an eastbound pickup truck that collided with the van carrying school children on a ski outing. After the initial collision, the van was hit by another truck and a second van, Parkin said.

The injured were taken by ambulance to hospitals in Kellogg and Superior, Mont. Two patients were flown by helicopter to a Spokane hospital, and two others were transported by Life Flight to St. Patrick Hospital in Missoula, she said.

The fourth- through eighth-graders were on their way from a ski outing when the accident occurred.
