Marion Well Coeur d’Alene
Service and burial for Marion D. Wells, 94, will be held later in Hamburg, N.Y. Yates Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.
Mrs. Wells, who was born in Buffalo, N.Y., died Friday.
She graduated from Buffalo Normal School and taught school in New York. She moved to California after her retirement in 1977 and moved to Coeur d’Alene in 1981 to be near her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, George. Survivors include her son, George Jr. of Hayden Lake, Idaho; a daughter, Mary Hadsall of Surfside Beach, S.C.; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Jerald Hazeltine Hillsboro, Ore.
Service for Jerald “Jerry” Hazeltine, 78, will be today at 10 a.m. at Short’s Funeral Chapel in Moscow, Idaho. Concluding rites with military honors will follow at the Viola (Idaho) Cemetery.
Mr. Hazeltine, a former Sandpoint resident, died Monday.
He served with the Navy during World War II and lived in Moscow and Las Vegas, Nev., before moving to Sandpoint. He retired in 1981 and moved to Bottle Bay on Lake Pend Oreille. He moved to Oregon in 1994.
He worked in the heavy construction industry in Spokane and was a truck driver for the Pack River Lumber Co. in Sandpoint.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, carpentry, huckleberry picking and gardening.
He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and the Operating Engineers Union and served on the Bottle Bay Sewer Board. He was a member of the Hayden Lake Eagles Aerie and past president of the Clarkston, Wash., Eagles Aerie.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Goldie, in 1988. Survivors include four daughters, Patricia Tualatin, Jeraldine Dufur and Penny Frochette, all of Oregon, and Deborah Jacobson of Alaska; three sisters, Wilda Hunter of Moscow, Idaho, Verla Hall of Genesee, Idaho, and Thelma Pelfrey of Spokane; 18 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Cara Sherman-Tereno Spokane
Graveside service for Cara Jo Sherman-Tereno, 44, was Wednesday at Fairmount Memorial Park.
Mrs. Sherman-Tereno, died Tuesday. She was born in Spokane.
She had lived in Reno, Nev., until 1974, when she attended the University of Massachusetts Art School in Boston. She then moved to New Jersey and attended the Joe Kubert School of Cartoon and Graphic Art. She graduated in 1978.
Mrs. Sherman-Tereno was an illustrator for comic books for DC comics and drew such titles as Wonder Woman and Arion. She also illustrated issues of Evangeline for First Comics.
In 1979 she married Lloyd Tereno in Brooklyn, N.Y. They moved to Spokane in 1986.
Mrs. Tereno was a member of Temple Beth Shalom.
She is survived by her husband; one son, Josiah Tereno, and one daughter, Elizabeth Tereno, both at home; and two sisters, Brooke Sherman-Smith of Carson City, Nev., and Shayne Donaldson of Hayward, Calif.

Floyd Tate Spokane
Memorial service for Floyd W. Tate, 84, will be at 3 p.m. today at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home.
Born in Malden, Wash., Mr. Tate died Sunday.
He had lived in Spokane since 1913 and graduated from North Central High School.
In 1934 he married Dorothy Jones in Newport, Wash.
He was a farmer in the Spokane area and had operated Hank’s Bike Shop in Spokane for 16 years. He also operated the Hilltop Store on Sunset Hill and University Hardware Store.
Mr. Tate was a 60-year member of Sunset Grange No. 904 and a 15-year member of the Great Northern School District Board.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Tate of Spokane; one daughter, Rosalie Bradshaw of Spokane; one brother, Marlin Tate of Spokane; one sister, Amelia Jones of Ione, Wash.; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Pearl Beeck Gilbert, Ariz.
Service for S. Pearl Beeck, a former 30-year Spokane resident, was held in Arizona.
Born in Everett, Mrs. Beeck died Feb. 9 in Arizona where she had lived for just over two years. She was 74.
She and her husband operated Cicero’s Pizza in the 1970s. She served as a corporal during World War II in the Army Air Corps.
Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Melvin Beeck Sr.; one daughter, Norine Hart of Phoenix, Ariz.; one son, Charles Beeck of Honolulu; four grandchildren and four greatgrandchildren.

Everett ‘Joe’ Carlson Spokane
Memorial service for Everett “Joe” Carlson, 70, will be at 11 a.m. today at Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home.
Mr. Carlson, who was born in Minneapolis, died Tuesday.
He had lived in Spokane since 1937 and worked at Deaconess Medical Center as an orthopedic supervisor for more than 30 years. He retired in 1987.
He was a founder of the local chapter of Mending Hearts, a national organization for people who have had open heart surgery. He was an Episcopalian.
Mr. Carlson is survived by his wife of 42 years, Vera Carlson; one daughter, Bobbi Rae Carlson; one brother, Robert Carlson; and one stepsister, Gwen Giampietri, all of Spokane.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association of Washington or the American Lung Association.
Marie Rowe Deer Park
Service for Marie Helen Rowe, 83, will be at 11 a.m. today at Riplinger Funeral Home. Burial will be at Fairmount Memorial Park.
Born in Kaywood, Mo., Mrs. Rowe died Wednesday.
She had lived in Spokane since 1948, and worked for dry cleaners as a presser.
She was a member of Assembly of God Church, Ladies Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary Post 3067 of Deer Park, Deer Park Eagles Lodge No. 3564, and the Retired Air Force Sergeants Auxiliary.
She is survived by her husband of 34 years, LeRoy; one daughter, Jeanette Valentine of Spokane; two sisters, Rosylee Powell and Mildred Buttars, both of Idaho Falls, Idaho; three grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
Stephen Riese Silverado Canyon, Calif.
Service for Stephen Harold Riese, 44, will be Monday at 10 a.m. at Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d’Alene. Burial will follow at Westmond Cemetery.
Mr. Riese, who died last Saturday, was born in Sandpoint and graduated from Sandpoint High School. He attended Camelback College in California and Spokane Community College.
He worked in uranium exploration and as a ski patroller. In 1986 he moved to Los Angeles, where he worked as a carpenter.
He was an avid skier, surfer and outdoorsman and served on the staff of the Republican National Committee.
Survivors include his parents, Harold and Faye Riese of Sandpoint; one brother, Jack of Spokane; one sister, Linda DeMarre of Issaquah, Wash.; his grandmother, Hazel Albright of Sandpoint; and four nephews.
Joanne Sample Almira, Wash.
Memorial service for Joanne R. Sample, 67, is planned for 11 a.m. Tuesday at Wilbur (Wash.) Lutheran Church. Strate Funeral Home in Wilbur is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Sample, who was born in Spokane, died Tuesday.
She was a homemaker and worked on the family farm. Her husband, Albert Sample, died in 1989, and she continued to operate the farm.
She was a member of Wilbur Lutheran Church, Almira Bridge Club, and Women Involved in Farming Economics.
She is survived by two sons, Charles Sample of Kent, Wash., and Scott Sample of Almira; one daughter, Suzanne Staudinger of Spokane; one sister, Peggy Emtman of Quincy, Wash.; and four grandchildren.

William Duncan Cheney
Memorial service for William B. Duncan, 73, will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at St. Andrews Episcopal Church. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home in Cheney is in charge of cremation.
Mr. Duncan, who died Sunday, was born in Boise and raised in Havre, Mont.
He served as a fighter pilot in World War II with the Army Air Corps. He moved to Spokane in 1952.
He flew charter and patrols for Mamer-Schreck Air Transport and also worked as a crop duster in Arizona and Washington. In 1969 he and Russ Swanson, former Mamer-Schreck owner, formed an aerial spraying operation, D & S Flying Service.
He retired in 1984.
Mr. Duncan was the founder and past president of Spokane’s Experimental Aircraft Association and served as technical counselor for the National EAA until 1991, when he was diagnosed with a heart condition.
He built five experimental airplanes, three of which were original designs. His Great Lakes airplane won an EAA national award in 1973. His 1928 Eaglerock, which he completed in 1990, is also an award winning airplane. He also restored antique planes.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Lorraine; one son, Bill Duncan of Spokane; one daughter, Cheryl Ann of Sonoma, Calif.; one sister, Harriett Flynn of Havre; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Jessie Lacroix Spokane
Vigil service for Jessie M. Lacroix, 95, is planned for 7 p.m. Monday at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Aloysius Catholic Church.
Mrs. Lacroix, who was born in Moyie, British Columbia, died Monday.
She was raised in Tekoa, Wash., and Spokane and graduated from Holy Names Middle School and Holy Names College.
She worked at Washington Water Power for many years and also worked as a nurse.
She is survived by one son, Ron Lacroix of Spokane; one sister, Agnes Cavanaugh of Spokane; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be to St. Ann’s Children’s Home or Morning Star Boys Ranch.
Elsa Weitz Spokane

Mrs. Weitz, who died Wednesday, was born in Philadelphia.
She was a retired registered nurse and had lived in Spokane for 37 years.
She was a member of Spokane Valley Seventh-day Adventist Church and was active in its community services program.
Her husband, Henry Weitz, preceded her in death. She is survived by one son, Gerald Weitz of Moscow, Idaho; six sisters, Alice Knauss, Erna Deutsch and Margaret Eckroth, all of Loma Linda, Calif., Pauline Deutsch of Apopka, Fla., Helen Nash of North Wales, Pa. and Bette West of Collegeville, Pa.
Barbara Bonin Hayden, Idaho
Memorial service for Barbara May Bonin, 67, will be March 9 at 1 p.m. at Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d’Alene. Mrs. Bonin, who was born in Lynden, Wash., died Tuesday.
She moved to Ferndale, Wash., at a young age and graduated from high school in Colfax, Wash.
She had lived throughout the Midwest before moving to Hayden.
She enjoyed sewing and traveling and loved to fish and camp.
Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Walter; three sons, Michael and David, both of Seattle, and Patrick of Vancouver, Wash.; four daughters, Jeanne Paradis of Mount Vernon, Wash., Susan Moseman of Kansas, Linda Inge of Moses Lake and Wendy Clarke of Kingston, Wash.; a sister, Betty McConnell of Spokane; and one great-grandchild.
Ila Olson Salyer, Calif.
Memorial service for Ila J. (Farris) Olson, 55, will be held in California at a later date. McDonald Files Funeral Home in Salyer is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Olson, a former longtime Spokane resident, died last Saturday. She was born in Sandpoint.
She was a homemaker and had lived in California for the past six years.
She is survived by one son, Cory Farris, and two daughters, Jeannie Clarborg and Lonna Web, all of Spokane; her mother, Ruth Perks of Spokane; one brother, Late Hadden of Santa, Idaho; two sisters, Leora Dally of Seattle and Sharon Spurgeon of Spokane; and six grandchildren.

Una Willis Spokane
No service will be held for Una Willis, 70, at her request. The Cremation Society of Washington is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Willis, who died Tuesday, was born in England.
During World War II she was a member of the British ATS, a military service group for women. In 1945 she married Floyd Willis in Huntington, England, and they came to Spokane in 1947.
Mrs. Willis is survived by her husband; one son, Robin Willis of Newport, Wash.; one daughter, Rhona Glass of Spokane; and five grandchildren.
James Leach Spokane
No service will be held for James Louis Leach, 63, at his request. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Leach, who died Tuesday, was born in Scotts Bluff County, Neb.
He was a mechanic for the city of Spokane and had lived in Spokane for 40 years.
He was a Navy and Air Force veteran and was a member of Hillyard Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1474.
He is survived by his wife, Lucienne Leach of Spokane; three sons, Jim Leach of Spokane, Louis Leach of Great Falls, Mont., and Mark Leach of Colville, Wash.; three sisters, Florence of Seattle, Maxine of Eugene, Ore., and Lois of Mesa, Ariz.; and nine grandchildren.
Percy Dolsman Spokane
Memorial service for Percy H. Dolsman, 81, will be at 1 p.m. today at Peace Lutheran Church. Thornhill Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Dolsman, a 53-year Spokane resident died Feb. 9. He was born in Winnett, Mont.
He had worked as a logger and on the railroad. In the Spokane area he worked as a fuel truck driver and retired in 1976 after an injury.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Ruth Dolsman; three daughters, Jeannette Rupnick and Leona Siegal, both of Spokane, and Ione Craner of Greenacres; one son, Russell Dolsman of Northport, Wash.; 17 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Mohr, who died Wednesday, was born in Minto, N.D.
She was a 50-year Spokane resident, and was a registered nurse and a homemaker.
Mrs. Mohr is survived by one son, Charles Mohr of Spokane; two daughters, Carol Batt of Fairfield, Conn., and Patty Sanford of Irvine, Calif.; two brothers, Charles Thomson of Fargo, N.D., and Marvin Thomson of Phoenix, Ariz.; two sisters, Alison Branch of Phoenix and Marjorie Holt of Grafton, N.D.; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
