Lisa Kruse earned first place in the International Line Dance Competition for the fourth year in a row.

This year’s event was held in Nashville, Tenn., in January and featured dancers from the United States, Canada and Australia. To win, Kruse had to learn four different line dances and then perform them.

Kruse says she loves line dancing because it is something she can do by herself. She also likes the kind of people she meets when she dances and the traveling she gets to do.

Kruse has produced four instructional videos. She also teaches line dancing at area nightclubs.

Gonzaga University School of Law’s moot court team of Gary Hood, Joan Jakel and Kevin Pearson made it to the “Sweet 16” of the recent National Moot Court competition in New York City.

They lost by one point to Emory University, Atlanta, Ga., which won the national championship.

This is the sixth consecutive year Gonzaga has sent a moot court team to nationals. Their coaches are Bill Clarke and Stephen Sepinuck.

Lori Dee Leach recently received a master’s degree in administration from Central Washington University. Leach is a teacher and activities coordinator in Cheney.

Shannon L. McKinney, daughter of David M. and Anne M. McKinney of Medical Lake, Wash., has been named to the dean’s list at Ripon College. McKinney is a sophomore majoring in chemistry and minoring in English.

Three Spokane residents recently graduated from Central Washington University fall quarter:

Jennifer L. Smith received a degree in social studies; Jason A. Lenhart received his degree in biology; and Bret C. Rutter graduated with an accounting degree.

Richard Steven Richmond II, Veradale, made the honor roll at the University of Oklahoma for the fall semester. Richmond earned a perfect 4.0 grade point average.

Two area students made the Dean’s List at Randolph-Macon Women’s College, Lynchburg, Va., for the fall semester:
