College Hit With Supremacist Newsletter
A newsletter extolling white supremacy and rebuking gun control and intrusive government has found its way onto bulletin boards at Mt. San Jacinto Community College.
College officials, who confiscated nearly 25 copies of “Our Nation” on Tuesday, said they have not identified the source.
Physics instructor Keith Johnson said he first noticed the newsletter hanging on a bulletin board outside his classroom in the Humanities Building on Friday.
“There were three of these fliers right in front of my class and on another two bulletin boards in the Humanities Building where I teach,” he said.
Beneath the publication’s nameplate is the statement, “We Must Secure the Existence of Our People and a Future for White Children.”
One article in the newsletter described developments concerning the 1992 shootout between white separatist Randy Weaver and federal authorities at Ruby Ridge, Idaho.
The newsletter also contains a couple of pages of bumper-sticker messages that rail against gun control, President Clinton, liberalism, government intrusion and immigration. Using quotations and black-and-white images of Hitler, the publication attempts to link gun control to repressive government.
“I’ve been discussing this all day with my counselors,” said Bernard James, counseling division director. “This is the first time in the four years I’ve been here this has happened.
“My suspicion is that this is not a student who did this. It appears to be geared toward recruitment.”
Enrollment on MSJC’s San Jacinto campus is predominantly Hispanic and white with a small population of blacks.
