Officers Injured In Scuffle With Inmate
Two Spokane County correctional officers suffered minor injuries after a jail inmate turned violent Thursday morning.
Officer Mike Smith was moving Rasheed J. Tucker, 17, into a cell when the inmate kicked Smith in the face at least twice, the Sheriff’s Department said.
Another jailer, Leonard Jeffery, joined the struggle with Tucker.
A mechanical pencil fell out of one of the officer’s pockets. Tucker picked it up and threatened to stab them, authorities said.
The officers managed to arrest Tucker, who now faces assault charges.
He was being held in jail for theft of a firearm, unlawful possession of a firearm, and second-degree stolen property.
