Farrakhan Says He’s Primed For ‘Showdown’

Compiled From Wire Services

Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan Sunday dared the U.S. government to stop him from accepting financial help from Libya, saying he is primed for a “showdown” with those who would punish him for aligning with the “outlaw” nation.

Making his first public appearance since returning from his controversial 23-nation tour of Africa and the Middle East, Farrakhan told a cheering crowd of 12,000 at the University of Illinois at Chicago that he would welcome congressional hearings into his trip.

If he is asked to testify before Congress, Farrakhan said, he would “call the roll of the members of Congress who are honorary members of the Israeli Knesset (parliament).”
