Toddler Trampled In Squabble Over Duck

Compiled From Wire Services

A 5-month-old girl was trampled to death as her parents and cousins fought over the fate of a duck.

The duck, which belonged to the girl’s father, Gamil Abdel-Rahim, was slaughtered by the cousins, who then broke into the man’s home to complain that he had let it run free, the state-owned newspaper Al-Akhbar said.

During the dispute Wednesday, the girl crawled under her grappling elders and died, the paper said Thursday. The exact cause of death was unclear.

No charges were filed in the death of the child.
